Hair colour, the Ayurvedic way

I am an Ayurvedacharya, and I have always admired the simplicity of Ayurvedic hair colouring.

My hair is not coloured with a chemical dye. The natural-looking highlights you see are the result of Mehendi (henna) and Indigo, applied in the traditional two-step process.

Yes, it is tedious. Yes, it takes time. And yes, it needs patience. For me, that is the beauty of it:

• No rushing
• No harsh chemical colour
• No instant transformation

Just plant-based colour, applied patiently, letting the hair develop its own beautiful shade.

The result is never exactly the same on everyone. Your natural hair colour, your greys, earlier applications and the way your hair absorbs the colour all make a difference. I love that.

Ayurveda doesn't always promise convenience. Sometimes it asks us to slow down. Perhaps that is exactly what our hair needs.
